PostSubject: Mannin A.C Charter Boat Match 3/3/2013   Mon Mar 18, 2013 5:59 am

At last, we managed to kick start the Mannin A.C club comps for 2013, this was February's re-arranged match.
Today was the first of our boat matches, a charter boat match. With a few people having to pull out, we still managed to scrape together 12 anglers to fish aboard Gemini and Scraayl (may be spelt wrong!).
The format of the comp was a measure and return points system, basically each fish having a size limit in inches. Every inch above the size limit scores a point, for example an 18 inch Callig (Pollock) would score 1 point, a 19 inch Callig will score 2 and so on.
The time of year pretty much dictated the fishing, the main target was going to be Callig. Both boats decided to stay relatively close to port, fishing the local marks.. Which turned out to be a good decision for one boat but not the other! Aboard Gemini it turned out to be a real tough day, for pretty much the first half of the comp, very little was caught and what was caught, was under the size limits. Fish eventually came, but was a real struggle to catch point scoring fish, which turned out too little, too late to mix it up with the anglers on the other boat.
When back a shore, it turned out the anglers aboard scraayl where on the fish and took all honors!

1st Graham Newsome (Scraayl) 17 fish for 72 points
2nd Martin Lambden (Scraayl) 12 fish for 60 points
3rd Rob Corrin (Scraayl) 5 fish for 20 points

Best point scoring fish, Graham Newsome, 11 point Callig (28 inch).

99% of the fish scored where Callig, with 1 point scoring ling. There was also some undersize Coalfish.
